Share the Passion with Gert Bos

In 2022, Qserve hosted its annual Global Meeting in the Netherlands, a multiple-day conference where all employees are invited to gather, network, and learn. At the end of the conference, Gert Bos, Qserve’s Board Member & Executive Director, delivered a wrap-up speech where he introduced the concept of sharing passion at work with the hashtag #sharethepassion. He spoke of his own passion for Qserve and its employees and encouraged the team to tap into their own inner passions and recognize the passion driving Qserve forward. Gert emphasized the impact passion can have on one's work and the strength of the team's collective passion. As Qserve celebrates its 25th anniversary, it is important to reflect on how we became one of the leading global consulting companies in the industry; the passion shared among the team and as individuals has been a key driving force behind the company's success. Passion inspires passion, a concept that is embodied in Gert Bos and the spirit of Qserve.

Gert's passion for the healthcare industry is rooted in his childhood, as he frequently visited academic hospitals due to his mother's illness. This experience sparked a deep interest in the industry and a desire to make a difference in patients' lives through improving patient care. He recognizes that even those who don't work directly with patients can still have a significant impact on patient care by developing safer devices and systems for the future. According to Gert, his passion for the industry is driven by the goal of saving one patient through proper analysis and treatment, whether it involves a device, drug, or both. He believes that safety measures and clinical performance should be equally strong and valid in all cases. Gert’s devotion to his career and the industry grew immensely during his time at BSI as Head of Regulatory and Clinical Affairs. In his role, he spoke on behalf of the stakeholder Notified Body, coordinating between all Notified Bodies when the Medical Device Regulation and In Vitro Diagnostic Regulation were being built. The challenge of getting 87 competitors to align and agree, according to Gert, was fun but also helped him grow his passion for convincing people and bringing them on board.

In 2015, Gert joined the Qserve team alongside board members Jan van Lochem and Martin de Bruin. With their combined expertise and passion for the industry, they aimed to bring a fresh perspective and drive change within the company, working towards their common goal of improving patient care and advancing the healthcare industry. Under their leadership, Qserve has continued to grow and expand, becoming a leader in the global consulting space. Within his role as Executive Director, Gert channels his passion into inspiring the team, helping them make ethical and strategic decisions, and supporting their growth. He loves the diversity and hard-working attitude of the team and finds fulfillment in helping team members become effective leaders for the business. “I love to see people become who they want to be because that motivates them to share that passion, that joy for achieving regulatory compliance. I'm very happy to see people freely share their knowledge and experience with colleagues and customers, thinking aloud, and sharing their energy and passion,” said Gert.  Gert's deep love for his work at Qserve is evident, as every day brings new and thrilling challenges that align with and invigorate his spirit. Whether the experience is positive or difficult, the continuous opportunity for growth keeps him passionate and motivated.

With the industry flourishing, Gert is seeing more and more young talents join the community, proving true as 20% of Qserve staff are under the age of 30. “When I started in regulatory affairs, you had to be already 10 years in the job or whatever because otherwise, nobody would take you seriously. And I think we've reached a stage where now also universities are training much more on regulatory and quality sciences and more on technical details, perhaps,” according to Gert. The increased focus on regulatory and quality sciences in universities has made it possible for young talent to enter the healthcare industry with a solid foundation of knowledge and a passionate drive to make a difference. This sets them up for success from the start of their careers, allowing them to contribute meaningfully and positively impact patient care. With the right education and mindset, these young professionals are ready to make an impact and drive the industry forward with their energy and enthusiasm.

For Gert, inspiration and passion are integral aspects that define a person and their work, as well as the way in which they support others. He is motivated by individuals who embody their beliefs, exhibit consistency in their actions, and support others in reaching their personal and professional aspirations. These qualities are not only admirable, but also serve as a source of inspiration for Gert in his own work. He recognizes that passion and inspiration drive individuals to achieve their best, both personally and professionally, and is proud to be a part of a team at Qserve that embodies these values.

At Qserve, our ultimate goal is to spread positivity and excitement in the industry by showcasing our own passion for the work we do. By sharing what drives us, we hope to inspire others and create a ripple effect of motivation and inspiration throughout the industry. Whether it's through sharing our experiences, the projects we are working on, or simply our approach to work, we believe that through sharing our passion, we can encourage others to embrace their own passions and drive change in the industry.
